Standing in the Rain

She waited again in the cold dark rain,
her sunglasses hung low in attempt to cover her pain.

Tattered clothes clung to her rain soaken skin,
her mind flashed memories, memories of him.

Her bruised arms hung limp at her side,
heartbeat becoming barely audible on the inside.

His voice in her head, yelled and screamed,
how could she go bakc again, be so naive?

Battered and bloodied was her white t-shirt,
she could have never imagined feeling so hurt.

He left his mark all over her skin,
his scent still lingered, memories of him.

She missed his smile, so long gone,
his laugh, his sweet personality, when had it all gone wrong?

He changed his ways, tried to be a bigger man,
Replaced love with force, argued with his hands.

But somewhere inside her heart still ached for him,
Wanting to be loved, to feel belonging again.

He begins to approach her, his eyes loving and kind,
she steps forward, their bodies intertwine.

She wilts into his chest, surrounded by heavy arms,
she gives again, only next time to be harmed.
